I didn´t know that my favourite Boards of Canada song “Dayvan Cowboy” has such an interesting video clip (watch below). It features Joe Kittinger jumping off the edge of the earth in over 31,000m, which also set the world record for the highest parachute jump. And that was already back in 1960. Alicia Keys and Jack White’s Bond Song for Quantum of Solace

Being a big White Stripes fan, I was quite excited when I heard that Jack White & Alicia Keys will write and perform the new James Bond song “Another Way To Die” for Quantum of Solace. Although the movie is still away a few months the song already found its way online. You can listen to it on Firstshowing.net. They don´t seem to like it very much, but I think it sounds quite good and probably even better in the movie. What do you think?

The Filter or how to reboot your music library

I just installed The Filter which claims to make “great playlists quickly and easily from your music collection”. My first impression: It does a damn good job! They probably use some clever matching algorithms like last.fm and then create playlists based on selected songs in your iTunes or Windows Mediaplayer library. It also has an auto-suggest feature which looks at your most popular songs and then creates a playlist based on that.

Creating such good playlists manually would probably take me hours and if you’re in charge of music at work a fresh mix is always welcome. So if you want to give your music collection an new spin why don’t you give The Filter a try.

jango – another webradio worth a try

Since the ultimate, perfect, one-and-only webradio Pandora has stopped working for non-US citizen a while ago, I’ve been looking for a good replacement. There are quite a few contenders like finetune, last.fm and deezer, but most of them are good but not great and still far away from the accuracy of Pandora in finding songs which match my taste. But as you can guess I don’t give up that easily and so I present you another webradio: jango. I just signed up and and so far it looks and sounds promising. I’ll keep you posted…
